Charlie Lakony has been an ardent peace advocate/activist affiliated with such organizations as World Vision, Amnesty International, Activist San Diego, Friends for Peace in Africa (FPA), the Africa Network, Federalist Alliance for Democracy and Development in Uganda (FADDU), etc. since 1978.


Mr. Charlie Clifford Lakony is a Public Relations, Nonprofit Management and Conflict Resolution professional who has consulted extensively in California, Kansas, Oklahoma, Washington, Colorado, Washington, DC and Massachusetts, and British Columbia and Ontario in Canada. In 2004, Mr. Lakony authored a peace proposal for Friends for Peace in Africa (FPA) and the International Working Committee (IWC) that the government of Denmark agreed to fund through the office of the Paramount Chief of the Acholi as part of the 2006 Juba Peace Talk between the government of Uganda and the Lord’s Resistance Army of the notorious Joseph Kony. Mr. Lakony was the Paramount Chief’s Diaspora representative during the Peace Talk.


Currently, Mr. Lakony is the Co-Founder and Vice-Chairman of Federalist Alliance for Democracy and Development in Uganda (FADDU). FADDU seeks lasting peace and development in the Great Lakes region of Africa—starting with Uganda.


Mr. Lakony holds a BA degree in Political Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and certifications in Public Relations and Nonprofit Management from the University of Washington. He is near finishing his MA degree program in International Relations.


Mr. Lakony is from the Acholi tribe of northern Uganda. He fled the regime of Idi Amin in June 1977 and was a UNHCR-registered refugee in Nairobi, Kenya. In August 1978, he received a scholarship from Pasadena-based African Evangelistic Enterprises to come to the United States to continue his education. He now lives in San Diego, California.

Lisa Abuka

Lisa Abuka lives in Houston, Texas and works in Healthcare IT as a Business Analyst. Mrs. Abuka has worked for non-profits since 2003 and has experience as an Executive Director and a Grant Writer.

Mrs. Abuka received a Master's in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor's in Corporate Organizational Communication from Northern Illinois University.

Mrs. Abuka is married to Alfred Olango's eldest brother, Alex. They have one daughter.

Elli Aongo

Elli Aongo has lived in San Diego, California for over 15 years. Since 2013, Mr. Aongo has been Chairman for Ugandan Community Outreach and is responsible for budgeting and accountability of the program with the aim of maximizing every dollar contributed to the community. Mr. Aongo received his Diploma in Pharmacy at United Education Institute, San Diego, California and Certificate of Completion in Customer Relations.

Alisa Villegas is a mother of 2, whom has been a part of non-profit organizations for more than a decade. 

 

Miss Villegas volunteered with NHA & AKA’s Head Start programs for 6+ years before becoming employed at NHA, a non-profit multi-social service agency. During her volunteer years with Head Start she sat on the Policy Council, NHA Board of Directors and other various policy making committees.  

 

Miss Villegas and Alfred Olango were High School Sweethearts, they met when she was 15 and she has had the pleasure to call the Olango/Abuka family Her Family ever since.
